Mobilizing Millennials Advisory Network (M-MAN)

To provide strategic guidance, diverse perspectives, and expert insights to enhance Mobilizing
Millennials’ impact in fostering civic engagement and political literacy among young leaders. The
M-MAN serves as a catalyst for innovation, ensuring the organization remains at the forefront of
youth empowerment and social change.

Advisory Board Structure

1.Community Advisory Board: 7-9 Members.

  • Focus: Local issues, grassroots organizing, and community-specific strategies
  • Composition: Mix of local activists, community leaders, and young professionals
  • Meeting Frequency: Monthly, with quarterly in-person sessions

2. State Advisory Board: 11-13 members

  • Focus: State-level policies, regional collaborations, and scaling local successes
  • Composition: State-wide nonprofit leaders, policy experts, and influential civic figures
  • Meeting Frequency: Bi-monthly, with semi-annual in-person retreats

3. National Advisory Board: 15-17 members

  • Focus: National trends, large-scale impact strategies, and cross-state initiatives
  • Composition: Nationally recognized experts, thought leaders, and industry innovators
  • Meeting Frequency: Quarterly, with annual in-person summit

Requirements for Membership:

*Demonstrated expertise in civic engagement, political advocacy, or community organizing

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in related fields
  • Proven track record of successful initiatives or campaigns
  • Meeting Frequency: Monthly, with quarterly in-person sessions

*Commitment to youth empowerment and social justice

  • Active involvement in youth-focused or social justice organizations
  • Demonstrated passion for empowering the next generation of leaders

*Diverse representation in terms of age, race, gender, and professional background

  • Aim for at least 50% representation from underrepresented communities
  • Age range from 16-65 to ensure multi-generational perspectives

*Willingness to serve a 2-year term with the option for renewal

  • Commitment to attend at least 75% of scheduled meetings
  • Openness to mentoring and engaging with Mobilizing Millennials' young leaders

  • Grassroots organizers, neighborhood association leaders, local changemakers

*Nonprofit Executives

  • Leaders from youth-focused organizations, civic engagement groups, social justice nonprofits

*Political Strategists

  • Campaign managers, policy advisors, political consultants with diverse party affiliations

*Educators and Academics

  • Professors of political science, sociology, or public policy; civic education specialists

*Media and Communications Professionals

  • Journalists, social media influencers, public relations experts specializing in cause-related communications

*Tech Innovators Focused on Civic Engagement

  • Founders of civic tech startups, developers of voting apps or community engagement platforms

*Representatives from Youth-led Organizations

  • Leaders of student movements, young entrepreneur networks, youth advocacy groups

*Local Government Officials (for Community and State boards)

  • City council members, parish commissioners, state representatives (ensuring no conflicts of interest)

*Corporate social Responsibility leaders

  • Executives leading CSR initiatives in major corporations, especially those focused on civic engagement

Duties and Responsibilities

*Attend quarterly meetings (virtual or in-person)

  • Actively participate in discussions, providing insights and constructive feedback
  • Prepare for meetings by reviewing agenda items and relevant materials

*Provide strategic advice on program development and implementation

  • Offer expertise on current trends and best practices in civic engagement
  • Help refine and improve existing programs for maximum impact

*Assist in identifying funding opportunities and partnerships

  • Leverage personal and professional networks to secure resources
  • Provide introductions to potential donors and collaborators

*Act as ambassadors for Mobilizing Millennials in their respective networks

  • Represent Mobilizing Millennials at relevant events and conferences

*Contribute to the organization's thought leadership through articles or speaking engagements

  • Author blog posts, op-eds, or white papers on relevant topics
  • Participate in panel discussions or give talks at Mobilizing Millennials events

*Mentor young leaders within the organization

  • Commit to mentoring at least one young leader per year
  • Provide career guidance, skill development, and networking opportunities

*Participate in annual review of organizational goals and impact metrics

  • Assist in setting strategic objectives for the coming year
  • Help develop and refine key performance indicators for measuring success
